Plate Rack Sequence

The Plate Rack Sequence investigates the plate rack as a charged object which becomes more and more unrecognizable through physical alterations. The damage to the object’s functionality calls into question its role in the domestic space as an object that adorns class symbols and items of phenomenological value in the forms of decorative plates. Pulling references from southern plant life and employing practices and materials associated with the domestic sphere such as yarn wrapping with found and manipulated textiles, I impose cascading fibers which mimic the texture of Spanish moss and emulates a sense of decay and dispersal.
