Curtain Sequence

The work in the Curtain Sequence explores the curtain as a barrier that both conceals and exposes the private to the public. The textile patterns retain reference to both conventional association of the feminine and a specific time period pointing to adolescence. Through the process of glue washing and combing, the object loses its function through intimate acts that speak to domestic labor. As a result, the objects simultaneously plunge into the ground and sit upright, establishing a tension and contradiction.
