Bare Bearings

Exhibition Dates | Mon.  July 21 – Mon. Jan. 11, 2027

Cato Campus Gorelick Gallery | Annable Building, Ground Level, 8121 Grier Road, Charlotte, NC 28215

Hours | Open during regular college hours

Greene’s textile-based sculptures examine memory, care and gender aesthetic tropes  through transformed domestic fabrics. A collection of these works, on display at Central Piedmont Community College (CPCC), "Bare Bearings" uses these deconstructed materials to create contemplative works that explore meaning and personal history. Exploring the poetics of materiality, the works in this exhibition ask, "what do these things bear when they are laid bare?" The exhibition will be on display at CPCC throughout the Fall 2026 semester at the Cato Campus Gorelick Gallery.

The works center around the congregation of human manipulation, organic forms and storytelling, visualizing how the artists interpret the natural world through cultural narratives. The collection of works include mosaic, silver, ink, metal, found objects, wood, 3D
printing and textile. This diversity in material lends itself to the perspectives of each artist, juxtaposing soft and industrial mediums linking the natural with human intervention.
